Women’s Basketball Season Kick Off at Rockford University

On November 12th, 2019, the women’s basketball team kicked off basketball season at Rockford University. The team has had a long off season to prepare for the season. The women’s basketball team had a great off season, but it was time for them to bring the heat back to the floor.

Quarter one started, and the Concordia University Chicago (CUC) Cougars already showed the Rockford University Regents they did not want to take a loss for the night. The game was going heavy, but the Regents ended up scoring the next six points in the game, giving them the lead. The Cougars were not going to let them win, and they caught up to the Regents to tie up the score. Quarter one went great for the Cougars. Following the tie, the Cougars took the lead for the first quarter with the score 22-12.

Quarter two was looking pretty good for the Cougars. They were able to continue to build up on their lead. The game was looking pretty hectic as the Regents made their way back onto the floor to try to knock down the Cougars. However, the Cougars were not going to let the Regents take the win from them during the second quarter. The Cougars brought back the fight to the floor and continued to lead the game with a 38-30 lead.

The third quarter was more of a pace racer for the Cougars and the Regents. As the game was coming close to an end, both teams fought effortlessly for the win. Obviously, it was an easy kill for the Cougars, as they ended the third quarter with 60-45.

The last and final quarter of the game, and the Cougars knocked down the Regents with their easy climb of being in the lead. Rockford Regents slowly fought their way back up though. They fought hard and did not want the Cougars to win. Coming to a close score, the Cougars were able to take the win for the night with a final score of 69-58, opening the beginning of the season with a win.
