On Tuesday, November 19th at 7 pm to Wednesday, November 20th at 7 pm, Concordia University Dance Marathon held “Fundraising Push Day” where they set a goal to raise at least seven thousand dollars. The team finished the 24 hour period raising $8,411.
The event sold different dance marathon merchandise that also contributed to their goal like scrunchies and fanny packs, an instagram challenge, as well as hosting two fundraiser nights at Portillos and Panera. They held a coloring night as well provided cookies in the Victory Lounge in order to promote the fundraising efforts as well as explain what Dance Marathon is. The events were promoted through email, their instagram page, “concoriaudm,” and fliers around campus.
When asked about this event Olivia Paplaczyk, the Dance Marathon Fundraising Director, said,“Push Day was an overall success. It made my team and I am very excited for the big event! We are very confident that we will meet our fundraising goals and hope to see everyone come out because ultimately we do this for the kids!”
The main event will be held on February 22nd in Geiseman Gymnasium at Concordia University Chicago. Their fundraising goal by this date is $25,000. They will have a table for registration at “Midnight Breakfast” in the cafeteria. To register as a dancer you can text CUDM to 51555.
