As week 4 came to a close for the lady Cougar softball team, they looked back on the week with satisfied smiles.
The week started off with a non-conference doubleheader against the Elmhurst Blue Jays. The lady cougars fell short in the first game, losing 7-0, but came back strong in the second game, winning 5-1. This double header proves that the CUC (Concordia University Chicago) softball team does not give up after one loss, learning from their mistakes is something the ladies take pride in.
These games were a great preparation for the big games against Marian University the following day. The lady cougars split with Marian as well. The first game was tough for the cougars losing 5-0. In the second game, the offense awoke the bats and came back from a 5-1 score to win the game 7-6. The lady cougars played hard every pitch of this game and kept their heads in it until the very last out. This was a big win for the lady cougars as one of their goals is to split with those teams ranked above them. This energy was needed for Saturday.
The lady cougars played at Benedictine University on Saturday and they knew this would be one of their toughest matches. The lady cougars were determined to compete with this team and do their very best. The players strung hits together and stayed tough on defense which led them to sweeping the BenU (Benedictine University) softball team. This is the first time in program history that the Cougars have swept the eagles. The lady Cougars saw their hard work in action.
This was a huge win for the Cougars and they’re hoping to carry over this energy to their Monday game at Aurora University.
