After Easter Break, you will have one full month of classes left and then it’s finals week. You’re counting down and procrastinating more, it’s getting harder to study and stay focused. Don’t worry, there’s a lot going on to make sure you stay engaged, enjoy this semester, and enjoy the company of your senior friends before you say, hello summer and goodbye class of 2016.
Spring Formal is Friday April 1st and the location has been a well-kept secret, but CAB has decided to send hints and clues to see if you can guess where the formal will be held. Anyone interested in going can buy tickets in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement, located in the lower level of KCC near the post office. The ticket cost is $30 per person or $50 for two tickets; keep in mind the price will go up after March 24th. Don’t worry about transportation because it will be provided, the fun begins at 8:00 PM and ends at midnight.
Family Feud is coming. Sign-up has begun for groups of 5 to enter their “families” and compete in rounds of Family Feud. Registration is free and open to both students and faculty, once you have your group of five be sure to sign-up in the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement. Time and date will be established after Easter Break, so be ready!
The Clothesline Project will take place April 4th – 8th in KCC. The event takes place each year and allows students to speak out against violence toward women and men by taking a creative approach. Students can visit KCC between 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM to decorate a t-shirt that will be displayed on campus. Additional information and resources will be made available through Pillars, a social service agency that facilitates help to individuals in need.
A pet adoption is in the works. Based out in New Lenox, Cache Creek will be visiting the campus on April 19th and yes, they will have adoptable animals. The rescue will have applications if you happen to fall in love with a furry friend, but only if you provide a “furever” home.
Nominate a hometown hero for the 2016 Heroes Reception. Local businesses want to say “thank you” to people who go above and beyond to help others, so they decided to donate some gifts. Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to speak up and point them out, because we all know heroes are modest beings. Nominate a police officer, firefighter, nurse, or armed service member that you believe deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication to our community. The top three submissions will be awarded at a reception on Friday, April 29th so stay tuned for more info and nomination form.
