Concordia’s radio station WCGR 88.5 FM officially started its broadcasting season back on the 21st of September, and to the delight of the WCGR management, the number of radio participants has risen greatly compared to last year.
The new year brought in ten new radio hosts and managers, twenty members in all. There were thirteen different shows a week throughout the semester, averaging three per night. Last year there were eleven members total, with only six shows airing by the end of the semester.
With the semester winding down, more people have contacted WCGR management expressing interest in starting more radio programs. Three students have confirmed interest in participating in Spring, 2016 on the air. The management is open to as many students joining as possible.
Though there have been technical issues with the radio booth computer over the past two months, the shows have been able to air with little to no conflict. Unfortunately for the station the computer has suffered hard drive issues, which means that the 24/7 looping music streaming has not been able to run, resulting in lots of dead air. Luckily the Concordia Media Productions and CougarNet services have addressed the problem and the computer should be back up and running by the end of the semester, so the 24/7 music can stream again.
