The meeting was very informative and discussed the general overview of the trip. Initially the communication department was going to travel to Australia, but due to costs, the trip was too expensive for students. The trip to France will be from May 10th, 2020 – May 18th, 2020. The trip costs about $4,200, and that includes all activities, food, hotel, airfare, and transportation. Although $4,200, seems a bit overly expensive for students, if students have left over financial aid in their account, they can use that towards their trip to either pay for it in full (if that much is available) or it can help pay for some of it. In order to be considered to use financial aid for the trip, students must sign up for the France cultural class for the spring semester right before the trip.

On November 4th, the communication department hosted a general information meeting for students who wanted to travel to France. The meeting was held at 10 a.m. in Krauss 200. The meeting was held by Nicole Garza, communication program coordinator, and professor Tom Salek.

Some of the activities students will partake in are, the Seine River Cruise, Montmartre, Cimetiere du Pere-Lachaise, Musee du Louvre, Catacombs, the Eiffel Tower, etc. The places included on the trip will give students a chance to experience the joy and learn about the French culture.

Salek stated, “It’s a great opportunity for students to learn about France and their beautiful culture while they’re there.” In order for the communication department to take this trip, there must be at least ten students minimum who sign up, but the preferred number the communication department would like to go is 15. If there are any questions about the trip, you can contact Nicole Garza at Nicole.Garza@cuchicago.edu or Tom Salek at Thomas.Salek@cuchicago.edu.
