Goodbye CUC, and Thank You

May 7th, 2016 will mark the end of my four-year college career at Concordia University Chicago. These past four years have reassured me that I want to enter the broadcasting/media field thanks to the outstanding communication department and its extra-curricular functions. Four years of WCGR radio, three years of WCGR TV, two years of being the TV news producer and the final year being the WCGR General Manager gave me such great experiences and enhanced knowledge on media. Cannot forget the school newspaper, The Spectator, which I was part of the transition from print to online in 2013-2014. I look back at some of the old articles I wrote a few years ago and am still amazed how fast the time went here. I also have to acknowledge the three years of Improv I did, and the countless shows I performed in for students.

The staff and student body here has been so helpful, I am proud to call so many people at Concordia my good friends. I was able to really break out of my shell and participate in a lot of things, resulting in meeting so many great people. These are friendships that will last a life time. The welcoming community and Christian values of this school is what made me want to come here when I visited in 2011 as a York Community High School junior. The support that the professors give to their students makes the transition to the “real world” so much better. I knew I made the right decision my senior year to come to this University.

It is crazy to think that Jump Start was back on June 22nd, 2012 and I moved into Mary Martha Hall as a nervous freshman on August 25th, 2012. Four years may seem like a while, but it feels like it was just yesterday.

Thanks again Concordia for four years of treasured memories and a great learning experience. It is sad to say goodbye, but thanks to you I am ready for the real world.
