March 10, 2020- After a long few days in Clermont, Florida, the lady Cougar softball team was excited for their day off. The team’s off-day fell on a Tuesday this season, which was right in the middle of their game days.
Leading up to the off-day, the Cougars were 1-3 in their spring break tournament. The off-day in the week is something the team looks forward to from the beginning of February. Would the off day be beneficial for the lady Cougars? While some chose to stay at the resort and relax for the day, others chose to go to numerous theme parks in Orlando. Universal Studios and Hollywood Studios were big hits with the Cougar softball team in 2020.
While some enjoyed the amusement parks, others went out to the coastal areas to enjoy the beaches. Whatever they chose, the Cougars enjoyed it and it was much needed. While the tournament is very enjoyable for the players, Coach Sarah O’Malley Fisher believes that it is important to have the off-day. The off-day allows the players to spend time with their families and get their minds clear for the upcoming games. The CUC softball team was able to come back on Wednesday and be successful, proving that time off does an athlete good. The lady cougars went 1-1 on Wednesday, an improvement from earlier in the week. The lady Cougars are already looking ahead to this spring break trip in 2021!
