Football is one of the most popular sports here at CUC. Football brings students, faculty, and staff together to not only enhance the college experience, but to create a fun and energetic atmosphere. Football helps bring the community together through unity and camaraderie during the games. The social atmosphere of football makes you feel united even if you’re not on the field. The players aren’t the only ones who experience the passion and the intensity of the game.
During the season, a typical day for the team is pretty easy. Around 7 a.m., the team will have a meeting about their upcoming game plan which lasts up until 8:15 a.m., at the latest. After the meeting, the guys would then do their daily routine that they would normally do before going to practice. After practice, the guys will then head to dinner, go to study tables, and finally continue to do their daily night routines. The season lasts about three to four months. The guys will come in for camp before classes start, and work their way to the middle of November during the season. The off season is a bit different than the in season. The players have more time to focus on themselves, classes, and anything else that they would be interested in.
Zach Cicero is a sophomore here at CUC. Cicero’s position on the team is linebacker. Cicero has been playing football since the fourth grade, and it is one of his favorite sports. Cicero mentioned, “I love the game of football and there’s nothing else like it. The team has a great atmosphere and we are given the chance to create a brotherhood with one another. ”
