River Forest, IL. It was chilly, windy and misty for CUC’s homecoming game against Concordia Wisconsin, as the Cougars fell to the CUW Falcons 49-14. This was CUC’s (2-2) first home defeat of the year and CUW’s (1-3) first win of the year.
The game was a tale of two halves; the first half was competitive and close, while the second half was all but.
In the first half, CUW jumped to a 14-0 lead but the Cougars came back with two touchdowns late in the 2nd quarter to tie the game thanks to Acusio Bivona finding Ryan Allison both times. But CUW QB Aaron Nixon connected with Andrew Gatz for a 66-yard touchdown which made the score 21-14 CUW at the half.
After crowning the homecoming King and Queen, the second half resumed and CUW ran away with the game. CUC’s offense was shut out and CUW scored 14 in each quarter resulting in the 49-14 final. CUW had a total 467 offensive yards and five touchdown passes from Aaron Nixon. For CUC, Acusio Bivona was 7-27 in relief for starting QB Rob Granquist who left the game in the first half due to injury. RB Jakari Cammon had another nice game with 119 rushing yards and WR Ryan Allison had 95 yards of offense.
Next week the Cougars will hit the road to take on Lakeland College at 1:00PM.
