2/13/19 – The celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day was interrupted by the second ranked Benedictine University Eagles as they came to Concordia University Chicago (CUC) and completely dominated the Cougars. The womens’ basketball team had no answer for the Eagles as they suffered a brutal 75-36 ransacking this past Wednesday.

Being outrebounded by nearly 30, as well as shooting a brutal 20%, signed, sealed, and delivered a win to the Benedictine University Eagles. Turnovers were the story of the first quarter, as the Eagles were able to capitalize on every Cougar mistake. Down 24-13 to start the second quarter, the Cougars just could not figure out a way to slow down the Eagles. Outplayed in nearly every way, Benedictine University pulled further and further away, and as the much needed halftime break arrived, the Cougars found themselves in a 44-23 hole.

Things would only get worse for CUC, as they could not seem to make baskets in the second half. While the Cougars managed to put up 8 points in the third, the Eagles doubled that and added 16. In the fourth quarter, the Cougars could only scrape together 5 points, and although the Eagles also had a tough fourth quarter, they still managed to triple that and add 15 to their total.

The Concordia University Chicago Cougars womens’ basketball team looks to wrap their season up with a game against Aurora University this upcoming Saturday. Come out to support the women, as they honor their seniors on Senior Day at 2pm at Concordia University Chicago.
