A “Star is born” has been a popular hit circulating through word of mouth around campus. Many students agree it is a must see. Communication student, Asia Lagrow, comments upon the incredible sound: “One thing I loved was the live music. The visuals were shot live at a Lady Gaga Concert as well as the vocals. It felt as though you were watching it in real time.” Theatre student, Ghaida Aljebreen, was drawn to the connection between the two main characters: “You fell in love with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper the moment you see them. You can tell they had fiery chemistry.”
According to Forbes, the popular movie earned a whopping 6.77 million during its opening Columbus Day Weekend. It is widely known to be a remake of the original with Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Though this is the common thought, reporter, Scott Mendelson, urges viewers to see it as a “sexy, exciting, musically enhanced and adult-skewing melodrama that featured Bradley Cooper as a burned-out country music star and Lady Gaga as an undiscovered diamond in the rough.” In his opinion, the movie stands alone and has a completely different storyline than the original.
