Hate comes at a cost.

Lego has recently announced that it will no longer place advertisements in The Daily Mail.

Lego is the first major company to respond to a social network campaign called Stop Funding Hate which urges big companies (primarily in the UK) to pull their advertisements and support for newspapers that sell fear to sell papers.

The idea is that newspapers publish stories with headlines of controversy. An example being a father in the UK and his concern for The Daily Mail’s discussion on Brexit, which was the UK separating from the European Union. The article was said to do “nothing but create distrust of foreigners, blame immigrants for everything…”

Despite being started in focus with news throughout the UK, Stop Funding Hate hopes to spread awareness of the content some newspapers promote.
