Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work alongside other CUC students and help get your voices heard? Well if you have, then you are in luck. The student government at Concordia known as VOICE has been doing their best to get the scholars’ voices heard.

The goal of VOICE is to show students that they can make the change they want to see and have the ability to make a difference; VOICE wants to make CUC the best school for the students and staff.

There are many roles within the Executive Board, including: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Student Involvement Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Secretary.

This year there are a few new names and faces to put in said positions. Junior Madison Schulz is the VOICE President, senior Henry Garcia is the Vice President, senior Dan Joseph San Buenaventura, is the Treasurer, junior Hailey Lindblom is the Student Involvement Officer, senior Alexandra Denault-Floyd is the Chief Executive Officer and junior Princess Burch is the Secretary.

Everyone is excited to be a part of VOICE this year and they are hoping to bring positive changes to the school. VOICE is still looking for more students to get involved to help make the desired changes a reality.

President Schulz decided that they were each going to have a project to be completed this year. Whether it will include the entire campus or just the exec board. Burch had an event that she hosted in the Cougar Den. It was entitled “Cougar Mingle.” At this event, a number of students came and had conversation with other in a large meet and greet. Everyone seemed to enjoy the event and Burch was happy with the success of the event.

There will be a few more events taking place throughout the year so make sure to keep your eyes open for them. The members of the student government also just recently came up with their mission statement; “Seek first to serve, then lead others to inspire the change we want to see.”

The meaning behind this statement is that VOICE wants the students to know that they are using the power they have to serve the students and want them to know that their voices are being heard. They then want to inspire the students to go and make changes themselves because together everyone can make a difference.

The VOICE offices are located on the second floor of the KCC; there are open office hours if you want to make an appointment to talk with one of the members. You can also go to Facebook and like their page: Voice: CUC Student Government.

VOICE is looking forward to hearing from the students and they are seeking further involvement.
