New Horizons is a probe designed by NASA and was dispatched to investigate the now down-graded dwarf planet Pluto and its various moons, and if it has opportunity, some large objects floating around in the Kuiper Belt depending on the availability and position of said asteroids/mini moons. The New Horizons mission was set in motion in 2001 as part of the New Frontiers program, and was officially approved after the cancellations of Pluto Fast Flyby and Pluto Kuiper Express.
