Some players had a lot of experience playing basketball, some not, but they were all playing noncompetitively for two 30 minute halves without a referee. It was great to see everyone coming together on a late Sunday night for a fun-filled game of basketball. There was even a small cheering section for the players. Pillars had a table set up with information packets and media release forms for the players so they could post on their social media accounts about this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pillars Community Health has various locations across the southwestern suburbs of Chicago in cities like Berwyn, La Grange, and Western Springs. As stated on the Pillars Community Health website, Pillar&#8217;s mission statement is to &#8220;provide health, social and educational services to build strong, healthy communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Formerly a basketball athlete himself, the Pillars Community Health advocate, Zachery Draves, is the male alley community outreach advocate and works in the domestic violence program at Constance Morris House, a domestic violence shelter in La Grange Park. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Pillars Community Health is a comprehensive health and organization that provides a variety of services to the community in regards to things like domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health, and substance abuse,&#8221; said Draves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visit their website at pillarscommunityhealth.org for more information. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Written by Cassidy Stephenson On November 17th in the South Gym, Concordia University Chicago Intramural Sports collaborated with Pillars Community Health and put on a late-night basketball tournament to raise awareness for domestic violence.
