I was fortunate enough to meet Jinan while studying abroad. She is a freshman in college and is from Sultanate of Oman. If you are not familiar where her country is, here is a map to help you better understand.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

To be completely\u00a0honest, I had no idea where Oman was and I had never even heard of it. So I was eager to find out more and was very excited to share my new knowledge with all of you.<\/p>\n

Oman is an Arab country on the SouthEastern coast of the Arabian\u00a0Peninsula. In the year 2010, it was ranked the most improved nation in the world over the preceding\u00a040 years.<\/p>\n

What is your country known for?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Oman isn’t known for anything in particular (usually it’s known for being close to Dubai), but the people who know Oman, it’s known for having absolutely beautiful beaches (our coastline), historic buildings and architecture, the\u00a0kindness of its people, and its history.”<\/p>\n

A fun fact that I discovered is that Oman is one of the oldest human-inhabited places on the planet. It is estimated that humans have been living in the country for at least 106,000 years.<\/p>\n

If I were to go to your country, where is one place that I must visit?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“You must visit the capital city to see the juxtaposition between the history that is still preserved and the modernity that has come about over the past few decades (The capital is also home to a lot of beaches and mountains, so you’d get to see those too!)”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

From the looks of it, Al-Busaidi has a beautiful country that has an unfamiliar history to the people of the United States. As I looked through the google images of her country, I could not help but fall in love with the scenery. I would highly recommend you look through the images as well.<\/p>\n

Is there anything else you would like to share?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s an extremely accepting and open country – tourists love it and I just wish more people knew about it.<\/div>\n
PS: only visit in the winter if you can!”<\/div>\n

I hope one day I will be able to visit her country and to further my knowledge\u00a0even more. I truly do hope you all take the opportunity to visit places you have never heard before and to\u00a0learn all that you can!
