After five long years fans of the Brit-pop band Oasis may well get their wish: a much-anticipated reunion. Rumors are going around that the group may reunite for the 2015 Glastonbury Music Festival in England next summer.<\/p>\n

Michael Eavis, the longtime promoter for the Glastonbury Festival, told London’s Daily Mail<\/i> that he talks to both Gallagher brothers, older brother and guitarist\/songwriter Noel and younger brother and singer Liam, \u201ca lot,\u201d adding, \u201cWouldn’t it be marvelous for them to relaunch at Glastonbury?\u201d<\/p>\n

The elder Gallagher has called a reunion \u201cout of the question\u201d following the mid-October announcement of his new album, Chasing Yesterday<\/i>, his second with new band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. He has reiterated that his reasons for not being keen on reuniting his old band are for creative reasons, not because of any disagreements with his brother.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re on good terms\u2013as good as can be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Oasis headlined Glastonbury twice during their time, first in 1995, just before the release of their international breakthrough (What’s the Story) Morning Glory<\/i>. At the festival the band played six songs from the forthcoming album, including the epic \u201cChampagne Supernova\u201d, a move which Noel later called \u201csuicide.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hopes for a reunion have arisen at every possible corner since the band’s acrimonious split in 2009, from the 20th<\/sup> anniversary of 1994’s Definitely Maybe <\/i>and 1995’s (What’s the Story) Morning Glory<\/i>, to a friendly pub meet-up between the younger Gallagher and former band mate Paul \u201cBonehead\u201d Arthurs.<\/p>\n

<\/i>Fires of speculation raged out of control in early 2014 when the younger Gallagher brother took to Twitter, sending out individual tweets spelling out \u201cOASIS\u201d before meeting up with Arthurs. Fuel was added to the flames\u00a0in late October with Liam announcing that Beady Eye, the band he formed from the ashes of Oasis, was \u201cno longer\u201d following management issues and lackluster commercial performance.<\/p>\n

The elder Gallagher said that he is open to performing a headline spot at the festival, but with his new album as the focus, not an Oasis reunion.<\/p>\n

As speculation continues to roll in, only time will tell if the Gallagher brothers will finally bury the hatchet and join powers yet again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
